Christmas Lights 2007 – 8
On November 20, we had a preview showing of the 2007 Christmas lights display for those on Fontana. We had about 50 people in attendance, on a crisp and windy night, and received positive feedback.
The lights went on Thanksgiving evening for the rest of the world, but not exactly when planned. I thought I had the controller programmed for on at 6 and off at 10:30. But at 5, Mary comes to me and tells me the light show has started. So I run out to the controller and take out the SD card to stop the show. Then I reset all the timers and sequences on the chip, so it is now coming on and going off when planned.
Here is a picture of the display with all the lights on:

There have been some minor glitches where the final product doesn’t exactly match what I thought I had sequenced and had been looking at in the animation display on the computer. Not sure why that has happened, but am working on correcting it.
Two nights ago I tried to take some video. The best time to shoot Christmas displays is at twilight, which is around 5:15 here. So I set up the camera high up on a ladder like I did last year and started to shoot. After less than a minute a car drives up and stops right in front of our yard, blocking out a good piece of the action. There went that opportunity. Last night I did some experimenting to see if I could still get a good shot and avoid the cars. I think I have the solution, but tonight will tell.
Tim-
Hope you are doing well. Have a wonderful Christmas & a Happy New Year too!
Jodi told me about your awesome light display & I can’t wait to come see it! I’m sure my kids will love it
I’ll leave a comment for you after we get to come see the light display
P.S-Oh, I guess I should have said this is the “Amber” from TNT/Disney 07

Saw your posting on Planet Christmas “Showing Off” and took the drive from Gardner so I could see both shows (coming back tomorrow for part II). Very nicely done, great job! I’ve been planning/buying/researching for our first computerized display next year. Do you know of other residential displays in town? The only other one I know about is Krygers. I have some questions for you if you would e-mail me that would be awesome!
Great show, can’t wait to see Part II, the last showing, tomorrow night!
