Sometime I just jump the gun. Mary and I were on a run to Home Depot and I mentioned that our Christmas lights display probably didn’t win, since today was the announcement day and I hadn’t heard “Congratulations Tim, you are the winner in Category 2″ from Light-O-Rama. So I just checked out the Light-O-Rama website to view the winning entries and found that I jumped the gun, but only for the announcement date. It isn’t January 22, but . . . you guessed it, February 22. I thought it would be difficult to judge all of the entries in a week, but thought if you work 24/7 it can be done.

So check back on Washington’s birthday and hopefully I’ll have good news.

For several days there has been a prediction of snow beginning at 3pm on Saturday. Well at 2:30pm, the snow started to fly. Just light snow, but it continued and continued. Even this morning, there was a little snow coming down. At our house, we had 3 1/2″. The prediction was for 3-6″. It was very damp snow as the temperatures didn’t go much below freezing, and soon after dawn, crept upward to the high 30’s. Here are some pictures taken early this morning.

Once the driveway and walks were shoveled, it was time to play. I have always been a fan of Calvin & Hobbs, written and drawn by Bill Watterson. One of my favorites of Calvin’s continuing saga is his snow art. His perspective was just a little different than most kids. So I thought I would try and replicate a couple of them.

Well close, but no cigar. Anyway it was fun, and we now have a neighborhood full of snow people as the neighbor kids have built their own. Always nice to start a trend like this. Here are a couple of those pictures.

Thanks everyone for providing your vote for your favorite Christmas lights display video. The video has been submitted to Light-O-Rama and they say that winners will be announced on Monday, January 22. Regardless of the outcome, it was a blast to do and I’m looking forward to making improvements this year. Also thanks to those who provided input as to what they would like to see in 2007. We’ll see what we can work in.

Jingle Bells

On January 14, an email went out to family and friends, asking them to vote for their favorite Computerized Christmas Lights Display video from the list below under Here Are My 2006 Christmas Lights, with the winner being submitted to the annual Light-O-Rama lighting contest. It will be interesting to see the results, which I’ll post later.
